SPONSOR A
FOSTER BOSTON
Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue opens its arms to as many needy Bostons as it can. They come from shelters, puppy mills, and owner surrenders, There are many pups who are ill, handicapped, or need expensive veterinary care before they can be placed in forever homes. The medical bills they face are huge, and NEBTR wants to be able to continue to help all the pups who need care.
We rely heavily on your contributions to keep caring for these dogs in foster care until they can join a forever home. Please read the stories below, and if one of them tugs at your heart, consider sponsoring him or her. You can click on the Paypal button at the bottom of the dog's bio to make a contribution. You will be helping an animal who desperately needs your assistance. Thank you!

Sponsor Bingo

Bingo was adopted by an elderly woman about 5 years ago at
the age of 5 years old. Her family had promised to take
care of all of Bingo's care and medical needs. Several
months ago one of our volunteers received a call from the
elderly woman's niece stating that the owner had had a
massive stroke and was bedridden. When the woman was found
on the floor in her home, Bingo was laying at her side,
with his head on her arm. After the woman was taken to the
hospital, a family member would stop by to walk and feed
for Bingo once daily. He was alone in his home for over a
week with very little care, and without his beloved
owner.
Our volunteer offered to take him back immediately upon
hearing what was happening. This boy needed a chance.
Bingo had several growths on his body, and was taken to a
vet. Two weeks later, the biopsy proved one of the growths
as Grade II Mast Cell Sarcoma. Bingo had cancer. Bingo was
referred to a specialist for consult and possibly a second
surgery to remove more tissue because of the difficulty
getting clean margins at the tumor site on the inside of
his hind leg. Bingo underwent many tests to insure that
the cancer had not already spread into his organs. While
performing an ultrasound, the vet discovered some
irregularities with Bingo's liver which indicated Cushing's
Disease. The day of Bingo's second surgery to remove more
cancerous tissue, tests were drawn to for Cushing's. Bingo
did wonderfully for the surgery, and the staff at the
veterinary specialty center fell in love with him. He was
a model patient despite all he had been through in recent
months.
The latest tests came back showing the Bingo has Atypical
Cushing's Disease, which requires lifetime treatment,
medication, and blood monitoring.
This wonderful boy had been through so much in his former
home, and now has 2 major medical problems to deal with.
Bingo was started on the medication for the Cushing's and
chemotherapy several weeks ago. He is doing well with both
so far. Bingo's medical bills are at over $2000 at this
point, and still growing. His chemotherapy will go on for
another 5 months or so, and the treatment for Cushing's
will be forever. Can you help? Donations for Bingo's care
are much needed and very welcome. Thank you!

Sponsor MomMom

Mom Mom was dumped at the Burlington County Animal Shelter in Jan. 08. The only information that was left with her was her original name (Kristi) and her age (12). We picked her up at the shelter right before closing that night. I will never forget her little face. She was so afraid and shaking. She was wearing an old red tattered sweater. When we got her home, we took off the sweater and were horrified at the sight of her. She was completely bald from her neck back and was covered in red and green pus oozing sores. She was raw from the underside of her neck all the way back to her behind. She was scratching like mad. We got her to the vet and this is what they told us
She had: heart murmur, yeast infections in both ears, possible mange, fleas, ulcers in both eyes, deep infection in her gums with an infected growth in her mouth, rotten teeth (6), yeast on the skin on her back, kennel cough, possible cancerous tumor on her side and most likely a food allergy. Whew!
We later found out that Mom Mom was allergic to 28 known allergens!
We cleaned her up, put her on some medication (got a dental done) and after a few months, she was looking and feeling like a million bucks! Her hair began to grow back and her coloring returned.
Mom Mom made a beautiful come back and now enjoys an itch free, laid back, spoiled lifestyle. Mom Mom is the queen of the house. She loves lounging in her three (yes, three) dog beds, munching on lamb snacks and peanut butter and taking car rides around town.
Mom Mom will have been here with our family for a year this January and she is our permanent foster. Her new name, Mom Mom, came naturally to her because she mothers our younger dogs. She makes us smile everyday. We feel privileged to have her here with us, and we are so thankful that we had the opportunity through NEBTR to rescue her and give her the love and respect this sweet old lady deserves!
Thank you for any donations you can give to continue caring for MomMom. Her vet bills were enormous to get her back to good health. We want to be able to continue doing that for her and all our other rescued Bostons.

MomMom now, thanks to Amy. If you would

Sponsor Boomer
Hi All-- Here's a picture of the precious little old guy, Boomer.
A week ago yesterday, Donna made a very long drive and
rescued him out of a barn where he had been tied for who
knows how long. He's been with us for a week today. I
can't begin to tell you how special he is. Boomer is a
sweet, loving, gentle old guy who is now a total
chow-hound and wiggle butt!!! Of course, he has totally
grabbed my heart. --Joy
Boomer will need a lot of assistance to help him forget the cold
and the loneliness of the barn. If this old guy tugs
at your heart, click below to sponsor him.
